Amcomri Entertainment Inc company, Abacus Media Rights, has acquired the worldwide rights to the new Essential Media docu-series, Outback Lockdown where the team spent 22 days filming British chef Calem O’Grady and his partner, Australian stunt woman and survival expert Ky Furneaux as they set out to endure their period of self-isolation on a 46,000 acre sheep farm in the Australian Outback.

The couple had to forage for food, hunting ducks and goats which were all served in Cordon Bleu style by O’Grady.

Essential Media’s Brendan Dahill said “COVID-19 has turned the world upside down but Outback Lockdown offers the audience both escapism and optimism. It’s a survival story and a love story – set against the backdrop of one of the harshest and most remote places on Earth.”

Jonathan Ford of Abacus Media Rights introduced the project to funding partner Head Gear Films who, together with Amcomri set up the production funding. This series will join other Essential Media titles “This Could Go Anywhere” and “Rhys Darby in Japan” on Abacus Media’s slate as the business goes from strength to strength, adding new, quality titles every week.
