Amcomri Entertainment Inc has announced the launch of a new distribution company, Abacus Media Rights Limited (AMR), in partnership with Jonathan Ford, formerly Head of Sales at Kew Media Distribution.

AMG, whose other entertainment investments include 101 Films, 101 International and Hollywood Classics, has provided Abacus Media Rights with a substantial funding line to support the initial rights acquisitions.

Managing Director Jonathan Ford said that the aim is to set up a company that is streamlined and innovative, open and transparent. “With a respected, experienced team and the backing of AMG, we look forward to working with great production companies, building strong partnerships and launching into the television market with some essential viewing. Our focus will not just be distribution but also on working with production partners to get titles pre-sold and set up with financing.”

AMR will initially focus on distributing documentary features and series as well as non-scripted and drama series. The company has already acquired the rights to a strong roster of shows to represent on the international markets including Emmy® award-winning producer Dan Reed’s projects ‘Superbug’ and ‘Liberty City’;  Essential Media’s ‘This Could Go Anywhere’ and ‘Rhys Darby Big in Japan’, as well as documentary features ‘People You May Know ‘from BiFrost Media, ‘Ronnie’s’, a Goldfinch Production. and ‘Nike’s Big Bet’ from Cream Productions.

AMR will be led by Jonathan Ford as Managing Director. Paul McGowan, Chairman of AMG, will chair the  board of AMR which will also include Jonathan Ford,  Larry Howard (Director, AMG) and Andy Lyon (Managing Director, 101 Films). AMR has also recruited Anton Romalijski (Director of Sales), Lesley Whittock (Director of Marketing & Acquisitions) and Claire Hoskin (Director of Business Affairs).
