101 Films International a member of the Amcomri Entertainment Inc, has announced a joint venture with Canadian-based movie production company Wonderfilm Media Corporation (WMC).

Wonderfilm Global has been formed by the two businesses to maintain full control over their growing movie library and to gain a new revenue stream through global distribution of other producers’ films.

The joint venture will smooth out the development, financing and production processes within Wonderfilm by creating more certainty over distribution volumes and values for each project. WMC will retain control of the foreign rights to its own productions.

Kirk Shaw, CEO of WMC, was excited to launch Wonderfilm Global at Cannes. “Over the past year, Wonderfilm evaluated many options but kept coming back to the perfect fit 101 Films International had both in terms of business and team culture. This move is revenue and business critical for Wonderfilm and its film production business,” he said.

Andy Lyon, CEO of 101 Films International, is also looking forward to working with WMC. “With Wonderfilm’s ambitious and significant production slate and the support of 101 Films International and Amcomri Entertainment Inc, I believe Wonderfilm Global will have a unique and exciting opportunity to become a worldwide powerhouse for international sales and distribution,” he said.

101 Films International brings a movie distribution catalogue of more than 2,000 titles in the UK as well as US and global rights, specialising in cast-driven independent movies. Among 101 Film’s most notable successes are the movies ‘Left Behind’ (Nicolas Cage), ‘Braven’ (Jason Mamoa), ‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ and ‘I am Wrath’ (John Travolta). In 2019 and 2020, 101 Films International is releasing the re-imagining of David Cronenburg’s ‘Rabid’, Kurt Russell’s cyber heist crime thriller ‘Crypto’ and the Tye Sheridan thriller ‘Night Clerk’.

Andy Lyon and producer Michael Walker will jointly represent 101 Films International in the Joint Venture while Wonderfilm’s Jeff Bowler takes the reins for US operations and acquisitions from the LA offices.
